Ron Browning: Parting is such sweet sorrow

It’s not like we couldn’t see it coming. Our paper, like virtually every daily paper across the nation, was suffering financially. But knowing this day was practically inevitable didn’t cushion the blow when it finally arrived. At 9:17 a.m. Wednesday, I learned that the Noblesville Daily Times was stopping the presses, and my heart broke. Words can’t express what it feels like for a journalist to lose a paper. At least not my words. I’m not that good of a writer. For journalists, this business is not just a job. It’s not just a career. It’s our passion.

Mike Corbett: Thank you all for all of your support

It is clear from all the phone calls and e-mails I have received over the past several days that the Noblesville Daily Times made an impact on this community in our short five year life. The staff and I are grateful for all of the sentiments you have expressed. They have been overwhelmingly positive and supportive. There’s little left to do but to thank everyone for their part in this bold adventure. First, I must thank Schurz Communications. They took a chance on us at a time when very few would have dared start a newspaper. Although it didn’t

Kathy Kreag Richardson: A community?s voice is silenced

This is a very difficult column for me to write. Today marks the final printing of the Noblesville Daily Times and also the final time I get to communicate with you in my weekly column. For me, it’s like losing a friend. I am so sad about this loss to our community, and saying “Goodbye” isn’t easy. The Noblesville Times has been a very important part of this community for many years, from the days of the Hudler family running that paper to 2003, when the Noblesville Daily Times returned a daily voice to our area. The Times shed light on

Daily Times to cease operations

After operating more than five years as a daily newspaper serving Noblesville and Hamilton County, the Noblesville Daily Times will stop the presses. The Noblesville Daily Times has operated in the Model Mill Building since January 2007. Steven Furlow / sfurlow@noblesvilledailytimes.com Publisher Michael Corbett announced Wednesday that the newspaper will cease operations at the end of this week. The final edition of the paper will be

Busby gets 20 months for embezzlement

Lance Busby will spend 20 months in prison for embezzling nearly $112,000 from River Clean-Up, the non-profit group that coordinates the annual White River cleanup event. U.S. District Judge Larry J. McKinney sentenced Busby Friday, following his guilty plea to having forged and negotiated checks drawn on the River Clean-Up bank account. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe H. Vaughn said McKinney imposed two years of supervised release following Busby’s release from prison. He was also ordered to make restitution in the amount of $111,951 to River Clean-Up. U.S. Attorney Timothy M. Morrison said Busby, who was vice president of the organization,

Regarding the picture of Hillary and Obama... Either one of them would be better than the Jxxx Axx that now occupies Pennsylvania Avenue. Almost any dog could have done a better job over the last 7 years and not gotten us into such a mess.

Add Value to Your Home with Designer Furniture

Peer into your bedroom and tell me if that furniture is the reflection of the hard working, 21st century girl that you are? Chances are that the answer, if we are being completely honest with ourselves, is no. That old furniture set that your Aunt Dorothy gave you fresh out of college simply isn’t going [...]

Try Out New York Real Estate Auctions

With common websites like EBay, internet purchases have become exceedingly popular. It is a handy way to do your shopping because you do not have to depart the solace of your home or devote too much time to visiting different stores. Travel time is nonexistent because a new site is only a few clicks away. [...]

Listia: What if Craigslist and Ebay had a baby together?

If Craigslist and Ebay had a bastard child, it would probably look something like Listia.com.  The site allows you to auction off your old junk for “free” and then use the points others bid on your items to buy their “junk” in return.  As one man’s junk is another man’s treasure, it’s easy to come [...]

The Ebay Feedback System is Broken

I buy a lot more than I sell on Ebay, mostly because I find selling anything on the site more hassle than it’s worth most of the time.  The problem isn’t with using the site, which is a breeze.  The problem is dealing with other Ebay users and their often irrational demands.  This is compounded [...]
