Cindy Fallsen Colts fans in Indiana

I just moved to the area and are blown away by the spirit of blue and white. I don't know if the colts have a shot at the super bowl this year, but you would think that regular season tickets are like Superbowl tickets around here. I have never seen such dedicated and loyal fans. As a new hoosier, I would say, 'Go Colts!' Continue

Hi HCT Friends! I thought this social networking site had been taken down by the publisher of The Times, since whenever I tried to access www.hamiltoncountytoday.com it says the site has been removed. However, this morning one of my friends Googled me and found the direct link to my HCT page and it works! I had lobbied to keep HCT up and running because people could put their events on the calendar and still make Hamilton County connections. But they took it down anyway. But if you Google my nam… Continue

Annie Kinsey Founding Annie's Angels (PART II)

Well, one of the very first clients of Annie's Angels was Cecile Owens. She contacted me to care for her father, who had some dementia. I took care of him for months. He became ill, had to have a major surgery and the care went into round the clock care for him until he passed away. What a sad day. I came to love him so much. He was an inspiration to me and throughout the time I was with him, Cecile and I became very close. After his passing, she was lonely and we continued to look in on her bec… Continue

Annie Kinsey From a Struggle finding help to Founding Annie's Home Care Angels (PART I)

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Annie Kinsey, Founder and Owner of Annie's Home Care Angels. I started my company because about 6 years ago my father received a diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease. At first, family was able to schedule ourselves to stay with daddy at his home; however, as the disease progressed (and rather uncharacteristically rapidly) daddy's living at home and being alone, even for small amounts of time, was not practical nor safe. Daddy and I had agreed previously that when t… Continue

Jason How much is your job costing you?

This may seem like an odd question, but have you ever figured out how much it is really costing you to work for someone else? Think about it... There's the time you commute, gas, stress, the wear and tear on your vehicle, lunches out, work clothes, business suites, child care, traffic tolls, maybe even traffic tickets... You get the picture! More than just the dollars...what else is it costing you? Your health? Your sanity? Your family? Do you know the real definition of J.O.B? J.O.B. = Ju… Continue

Dee Ann Bond "The Write Stuff" by Dee Ann Bonhd

The “Write Stuff” by Dee Ann Bond I’m one of these people who, when I’m in a strange place, (maybe substitute teaching at the high school, for example), finds one way to the restroom and the restaurant I like and then just keeps using it. I never venture out of my comfort zone. Maybe that’s what “We the People” have been doing for many years about elected officials, (them “The Hired Help”). I thought that I knew how much the members of Congress made annually. Just to check I got on the interne… Continue

These men and women place the care, comfort and security of seniors, homebound, infirmed in some way ahead of their own. They work tirelessly… Continue

George Creating New Debt

The city of Pendleton has announced that they will be accepting credit cards and debit cards for payment of utility bills. While this may have been initiated to make it more convenient for payments, given the times we are in, it may lead some to further extent already troublesome debt. Many families are already robbing Peter to pay Paul because of increased cost at the grocery, a job loss, or other increase in the cost of living that have struck many. For instance, the Town of Pendleton announce… Continue

George There are some sweet deals among all this doom and gloom

Believe it or not there is some positive news scattered in with the doom and gloom. The AP just reported that new home sales rose by 2.7% according to the most recent Commerce Department report. And the National Association of Realtor's issued a report stating existing home sales were also up over 5% in October. The down side in both of these reports is that neither of these figures came without a price given the overall drop in home prices. But this is still far better than all of the earlier h… Continue
