Lt. Governor Becky Skillman and Acting Indiana Agriculture Director Ken Klemme recently presented the Reynolds and Reynolds-Davis family farms each with a Hoosier Homestead Award. Both of the families received the Award in recognition of their more than 100 year commitment to Indiana agriculture. In 1882 the Reynolds family farm was established in Westfield in Hamilton County. In 1901 the Reynolds-Davis family farm was also established in Westfield in Hamilton County.
“Hoosier farmers are part of the fabric of our great state,” said Lt. Governor Skillman. “As we focus on leading and expanding agriculture’s future, it is only appropriate that we pause to recognize these families who have continued our rich agricultural heritage.”
The Reynolds and Reynolds-Davis family farms joins nearly 4,500 Hoosier Homestead farms. To be named a Hoosier Homestead, farms must be owned by the same family for more than 100 consecutive years and consist of more than 20 acres or produce more than $1,000 of agricultural products per year.
